I'm updating my review having completed the second DLC and I have seriously loved this game almost as much as Black Flag. The world is enormous, and beautiful, with loads of side quests. I spent 80 hours completing the main game and I've not done all the side quests. The story is good and kept me hooked. The game play took some getting used to but I like it now and it was nice to see the return of a little naval combat. The missions can be a little reptitive: kill the captain, kill the commander, loot the treasure... That said, there is more freedom in how you approach them. There are no sync bonuses and it's up to you if you go in fighting or use stealth. I can't actually recall an occasion where you desync for being spotted etc. There are some awesome touches from The Witcher 3 like calling the horse and following the road which is cool as you can admire the beautiful scenery and have a drink while gaming. The season pass gave me enough Helix credits to buy a unicorn! The photo mode is a definite bonus and you can get some great shots and the discovery tour is a great addition. A lot of effort has gone into this game and it shows. It is highly recommended.

    Never really played Assassin's Creed but fancied this one due to the Ancient Egyptian world and hearing good reviews. It is a brilliant game, and easy to get into even for someone who hasn't played the series. The landscape is superb with excellent detail, and even now after completing the game there are still so many quests and activities to complete, despite the fact that I have played the game already for near to 70 hours. Every region of Egypt has its own distinct qualities and feels different to any other area of the country. Bayek, the lead character, is an interesting figure, who you feel genuine empathy with, and is a very likable figure to play through for all them hours. The overarching story of the whole series (the 'assassin's creed') takes up 5-10% of the game but isn't too complicated to understand and does not take away from the game itself.

    Overall, Assassin's Creed Origins is a superb game, with excellent graphics, and a brilliant story (featuring some key key figures from Egyptian and Roman history), which will keep you entertained for a long time.

    Bought for my son who is a big fan of this game franchise. He’s played it a lot and is very happy with it. A good addition to the other games in the franchise. Video games get a bad rep and everyone has an opinion about how long or if at all they should be played. Worth mentioning that the Assassins Creed games over the years have taught my son snippets about geography and history that otherwise he would not have learned. I’m not suggesting playing these games will help kids pass exams, but it’s nice to see information about other countries, cultures and history being learned and retained.

    This game looks stunning. Syndicate blew me away with its amazingly lifelike depiction of London and Origibs does not disappoint in terms of its presentation of ancient Egypt. The world is huge and the characters can climb up 90% of the buildings and scenery. The gameplay is good and you can’t just blast through the main quest without completing loads of side quests to increase your ratings and abilities. I like how you can use foraged resources to craft better armour. Eagle vision was invaluable when having to infiltrate large fortresses, helping locate all guards and other threats. However, I’m still not sure about the Origins part of the title. It doesn’t really show the birth of the assassin brotherhood, unless I missed something. Once I reached level 40 I did not seem to increase despite completing loads more quests. This was not a massive issue in terms of normal gameplay but it prevented me from completing any of the animus glitch quests as these were all pitched above lvl 40. The parkour that made the early games such fun is still there but there’s not much scope given the location, My biggest issue, though, is that you spend the majority of the game playing as Bayek then you switch to Aya to kill Caesar and then the game is over. It was a bit of a let down for such an overall epic game. It is definitely worth playing. I really did enjoy it, it was just the ending that left me feeling let down.

    I got this game after reading reviews from all sorts of sources. Probably 7/10 of them were good and the others were not very clear why. Assassins Creed has always been a great franchise up until Syndicate which was a bombshell.

    Before I go into detail, I don’t usually write reviews unless it gets bad. This is a first and the reason for that is: Not even five minutes in and the sound system crashed, a lot of the cinematics bar the ‘realistic’ ones are poor quality and then not three seconds later, the entire game closed down and will not even allow me to play it(?!) it is just a grey screen.

    In this game, all the controls are uselessly all over the place. The gameplay itself is nothing like the old games, it’s lacking the feel of controlling an actual character. Now it feels as though everything is done for you and it is. Free-running is not the same, you just hold one button and push the left-stick forward. How fun.
    Nearly everything is poor quality; actions; cinematic; voice works the lot.

    The only good thing I have to say is that the size of the map and the scenery looks beautiful and almost as good as the previous Assassins Creed.

    Developers should focus on good gameplay, a map size that doesn’t cause any disruptions and lots to do within the game bar the main storyline.
    ^ I would very much recommend Shadow of War over this.

    For me this has to be the best Assassins creed to date .
